Please inform you that Australian passport holders do need a visa to enter Vietnam as a tourist or a business. In your case, you have 2 options to get visa: You can apply for visa online to save your time and money if you travel by air so that you can get stamped visa at Vietnam airport. If you travel by other transports,  you should apply for Vietnam visa at any Vietnam Embassies which are convenient for you.

Please inform that there are two options for you:

1. If you fly into Vietnam from the Mainland China, we suggest you to come Vietnam Embassy in China to obtain your visa there as Chinese airlines in the Mainland do not accept the visa approval letter online.

2. In case you fly into Vietnam from other country, you can apply for visa on arrival online as normal. If that is the case, please download the visa application form and do as instructions.
