Vietnam Visa Exemption
Only citizens of certain countries can visit Vietnam without an Entry Visa, specifically as follows:
Not more than 30 days: for citizens of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos.
Not more than 21 days: for citizens of Philippines.
Not more than 15 days: for citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Russia and Cambodia.
French citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements when visiting Vietnam and are allowed to stay for up 3 months at one time or on several visits within six months since their first immigration dates.
Citizens of Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports are exempt from needing entry, exit and transit visas in Vietnam’s territory and are allowed to stay for up 60 days on each visit.
Citizens from all other countries are required to get an Entry Visa before departure or a pre-approved Entry Visa (issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam. Read more »

The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Cambodia are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of official passports with the stay duration not exceeding 90 days from the date of their entry.
Members of diplomatic missions or consular posts or representative missions at international organizations are entitled to enter without visa and to obtain residence visa valid during the whole tenure.
The Agreement was signed on April 3, 2008 and has not come into effect. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Angola are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports; with the stay duration does not exceed 30 days for each entry, and may be extended one time for a similar period.
Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to members of diplomatic missions or consular posts as well as their families’ members bearing diplomatic passports or official passports.
The Agreement was signed on May 24 2006 and entered into effect on November 17, 2006. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Venezuela are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passport or official passports with the stay duration not exceeding 90 days.
Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to members of diplomatic missions, consular posts or representative missions of international organizations and their spouse, children and parents bearing diplomatic passports or official passports.
The Agreement was signed on November 19, 2007 and entered into effect on June 15, 2008. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Uruguay are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports with the stay duration not exceeding 90 days.
Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to citizens who are members of diplomatic missions, consular posts or representative missions of international organizations and their families’ members bearing diplomatic passports. They are liable to complete procedures of residence registration within 90 days from the date of their entry.
The Agreement was signed on October 21, 1993 and entered into effect on December 6, 1993. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Ukraine are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports with the stay duration not exceeding 90 days. The stay duration may be extended at the request of the concerned diplomatic mission or consular post.
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of crew passports with the stay duration not exceeding 30 days.
Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to members of diplomatic missions, consular posts or representative missions at international organizations and their spouse, parents and other persons who are supported by them and bear diplomatic passports or official passports.
The Agreement was signed on January 26, 2007 and entered into effect on June 7, 2007. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Turkey are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports issued by Vietnam and bearers of diplomatic, official or special passports issued by Turkey with the stay duration not exceeding 90 days.
Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to citizens of either Party who are members of the diplomatic mission or consular posts on the territories of the other Party, as well as their families’ members bearing any of the above- mentioned passports. These people are liable to complete procedures for residence registration at the competent authorities of the host country within 90 days from the date of their entry.
The Agreement was signed on March 12,1997and entered into effect on May 10, 1997; Protocol on Modification to the Agreement was signed on February 20, 2004 and entered into effect on the date of its signing. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Thailand are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports with the stay duration not exceeding 30 days.
Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to members of diplomatic missions or consular posts or representative mission at international organizations and their spouse, and children accompanying them and bearing diplomatic passports or official passports. They are liable to complete procedures for residence registration at the host country within 30 days from the date of their entry.

The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and South Africa are as follows:
Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports with the stay duration not exceeding 90 days from the date of their entry.
Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports who are members of the diplomatic mission or consular posts on the territories of the other Party and members of the families of the above-mentioned people bearing diplomatic passports or official passports.
