Do Brunei Citizens Need a Visa to Vietnam?

Brunei passport holders DO NOT need a visa to Vietnam for stays of no longer than 14 days. They are required to apply for a Vietnam visa if they plan stay in Vietnam for over 14 consecutive days.

To enter Vietnam, whether under visa exemption or not, Brunei citizens need to meet the entry requirements below:

  • Brunei passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival date in Vietnam;
  • Brunei passport has at least 2 blank pages.

How to Apply for Vietnam Visa for Brunei Citizens?

Brunei citizens who wish to stay in Vietnam for more than 14 consecutive days may get a visa for Vietnam in either of the two following ways, both for tourism or business purpose.

1. Get embassy visa

This way of getting the Vietnamese visa requires the Brunei citizens to contact:

  • The local Vietnam embassy in Brunei (if they are in Brunei); or
  • The office of embassy/consulate of Vietnam in the country they are residing (if they are outside Brunei).

The visa got by this way will be stamped onto passport of the Brunei citizens before their departure for Vietnam.

The documents that Brunei passport holders need to prepare for their embassy visa application include:

  • Completed and signed visa application form attached with photo;
  • Original passport;
  • Invitation letter (for business visa);
  • Supporting documents (upon request of the embassy).

2. Get Vietnam Visa Upon Arrival

Visa on arrival is the best way to get a Vietnam visa for Brunei citizens traveling to Vietnam by air as it requires no contact with the embassy and no documents for application.

To get it, the Brunei passport holders only need to:

Filling out the secure online application form, and make payment of service fee.
Receiving the visa approval letter by email.
Normally in 2 working days (for tourist visa) or 7 working days (for business visa), attached with Vietnamese application form (also as Entry and Exit Form).
Getting visa stamped upon arrival at Vietnam airport.
