Do Italian Citizens Need a Visa to Vietnam?

According to the new law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, the Italian citizens DO NOT need a visa to visit Vietnam for up to 15 days each stay.

However, due to COVID 19, Vietnam’s borders remain shut to all foreign tourists, including Italian citizens. We will keep you updated on any news.

How to Apply for a Vietnam visa for Italian Citizens?

The Italian citizens may have 02 ways to get a Vietnam visa.

1. Apply at Local Vietnam Embassy

Getting a visa to Vietnam this way requires the Italian citizens to contact an office of the Vietnam embassy/consulate abroad. 

  • If they are in Italy, luckily they can visit the embassy of Vietnam in Italy. See their contact details here.
  • If you are outside Italy, in a country with a Vietnam embassy/consular office, you can contact them for visa application.
  • If you are in a country without such an office, just visit the nearest one for the visa application.

The required documents, visa fees and processing time may vary by the embassy.

2. Apply Online for Vietnam Visa on Arrival (Recommended)

Visa on arrival is the best way to get a tourist/business visa for Italian citizens traveling to Vietnam by air, especially for those living far from the embassy of Vietnam. 

With VOA, you apply online via website: by:

Filling out the secure online application form;
Receiving the visa approval letter by email.
Normally in 2 working days (for tourist visa) or 7 working days (for business visa), attached with Vietnamese application form (also as Entry and Exit Form).

  • US$25 or US$50 for visa stamping at Vietnam airport (for a single entry visa or a multiple entry visa valid for up to 3 months), PLUS (+)
  • service fee for visa approval letter (which is paid online upon submitting the application form online).
